Hi, I’m Sarah Chung

I’m an avid leaner that loves creating logical structures for creative ideas to flourish & inspire.

Korean-American, She/Her/Hers

I'm also approaching my senior year in college at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Advertising with a minor in public relations.

Growing up, I was taught that creativity and practicality are dichotomous in nature. And as someone who is both logical and creative, I've always disagreed. While the two do have their fair share of differences,  I've found that they aren’t as polarized as people believe. In fact, through my experiences I’ve found that without one, the other fails. My goal is to bridge that gap between practicality and even the most abstract creative thought-- between the left and right brain,  to produce work that inspires.

reading

Fun fact: as a child I used to despise reading, but my mom made me do it anyways. Now, it’s one of my favorite forms of time travel. I especially love books that fall under the genre of sci-fi, self improvement, fiction, and thrillers. My favorite book of all time is Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. The weirdest book I’ve ever had to read was the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx.

art

This is my ultimate form of distressing. Around finals, I’ll draw until my hand hurts. I’ve been getting more into digital art lately because of the convenience of it, however I also enjoy physical mediums as well. My favorite medium is graphite because it’s so forgiving. My least favorite is scratchboard.

music

A wise man once tweeted “if art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time,” and I’m constantly decorating my time. In fact, I can’t think of one situation that would be worse off with decorated time. Music has been an essential part of my entire life! Throughout my life I’ve played the piano, the guitar, the bass, the clarinet, the ukulele, and of course the recorder.
